On April 23, Wikimedia Czech Republic joined the Wikimedia Foundation, the non-profit organization that runs Wikimedia projects, and 11 other Wikimedia affiliates around the world. In an open letter, it called on United Nations (UN) member states to protect Wikipedia and other public interest projects in the forthcoming Global Digital Compact.
