Last month, 1,100 people gathered in Katowice, Poland, and another 1,500 joined online to celebrate the Wikimedia movement and engage in discussions about its future and direction. There were 143 countries represented, and we, Wikimedia Czech Republic, couldn’t miss the Wikimania conference.
Wikimania is an annual conference celebrating all free knowledge projects, organised by the Wikimedia Foundation. It is three days full of conferences, discussions, meetings, trainings and workshops. This year’s edition ran from 7 to 10 August, and in total there were more than 300 sessions (in 12 tracks in 8 parallel rooms) for participants. In addition, there were other side events such as the WikiWomen Summit, the Wikimania 2024 Hackathon and many more.
