ADD A QUOTE CAMPAIGN IS STARTING!
What is the challenge? Add at least one reference on Wikipedia!
Any citation to a credible source will help Wikipedia readers around the world.
The worldwide Add a Citation campaign (internationally #1Lib1Ref) will challenge (not only) librarians to use the literature in their library to enrich Wikipedia with at least one citation (reference).
Want to participate? Feel free to do so between 15 January and 5 February 2025. Not a librarian? That’s okay! Because anyone can get involved.
Edit with us! We’ll show you how.
- Special Monday Wikiporadna – online, Monday 27 January 2025 at 18:00.
- Join us for Wikiporadna and add citations to Wikipedia under the guidance of Wikimedia CR’s lead tutor!
- Special Prague Wikipedia Club – Wikimedia CR office (Slovenská 1705/21, Prague 2), Tuesday, January 28, 2025 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
- Come to the Prague Wikiclub and add citations with others under the guidance of an experienced Wikimedia CR tutor!
To be entered into the draw for Wikimedia-themed prizes, be sure to add the relevant ‘hashtag’ in the summary of your edit. How to do it? Fill in the edit summary, write e.g. ‘adding a reference’, and add the hashtag #1Lib1Ref.
This year you can also compete in the Central European Region competition! The winner will then receive a voucher to the international Wikistore. Just add a second hashtag: #1Lib1RefCEE. Are you up for it?
Why librarians? Who else but librarians are so well placed to maintain the quality of citations on the Czech Wikipedia – they are experts in searching and providing information, and in their work they work every day with books and journals, which are invaluable sources of information for Wikipedia.
The twice-yearly Add a Citation (#1Lib1Ref) campaign is run by the Wikimedia Foundation and supported by the Wikipedia Library Team and Wikimedia Affiliates worldwide. We also work closely with librarian communities locally and globally to promote the campaign.
